Budweiser's Iconic Horses

I recently saw a new holiday ad featuring Budweiser's iconic horses and thought I'd take a look at the history of them...

I noticed this particular ad and realized that it is from four or five years ago... Whether it was because I wasn't of age and didn't notice the ad yet or I just simply missed it, I am upset that I haven't seen it until today.

What a clever ad!

This one is tied with their Never Forget ad shown below for the top spots in their portfolio.  What tremendous work!

Replayed this on YouTube over and over and over again...

In a move to get American children active, the NFL teams up to get the younger generations to be more active.  The NFL Play 60 initiative encourages kids to get at least 60 minutes of activity in every day.  Where does advertising come in?

The NFL occasionally calls upon one or more of their stars to star in a quick commercial to remind kids to get active.  Most of the time it shows a dozen players on a bus with a few dozen kids and eventually all the kids and the players are seen playing around in a park.

This past week, they released an incredibly adorable and catchy commercial that had me re-watching it on YouTube and showing it to my family all weekend.

This commercial not only caused me to laugh but also made me wish I was young again...

If only...

Kesslers Diamonds emotional ads

If you live within the Milwaukee radio broadcast area, you've probably heard the emotional testimonies by Richard Kessler for his beautiful diamonds.  If not, below is the link to their webpage.  They even advertise a seperate page where you can listen to their Radio Spots.

Almost every large jewelry store chain has radio ads in Milwaukee, but Kessler's is different.  There is more of an emotional appeal.  Richard Kessler speaks to the listener much like Roosevelt did in the 30's and 40's during his infamous Fireside Chats.  Mr. Kessler acts like your best friend and invites you to a Kessler's Diamonds store to see their new product.

I could not find information regarding the market share of diamond or jewelry sales in Milwaukee, but I am certain that Kessler's is doing well.  Buying jewelry for your dearest and closest life-time friend isn't something to take lightly.  Richard Kessler jumped on that opportunity to appeal emotionally and did so in a very intelligent way.

Ok Geico...it's becoming annoying!

When the Geico gecko was first seen in television ads in 1999, it was clear that Geico was making a move to get their brand name into Americans' heads.  13 years and a few different campaigns later, Geico is starting to get on our nerves.

The problem isn't that they're so prevalent on most of the channels.  It's not that they have had so many different individual campaigns.  It's not that they pay millions of dollars to increase their brand awareness.

The problem is that they are running out of ideas and at this point, the advertising isn't even about insurance.

Take the following examples of Geico ads:

Clearly they are doing something right.  According to the-top-tens.com, Geico is ranked #1 in car insurance companies.  Many of the reviews for Geico are related to actually saving money, which is the basis for many of the commercials they release.  Other reasons for their top ranking include great customer service and for their maximum coverage.

Perhaps Geico could change it up a bit and create a campaign focusing on their customer service or coverage.  Then again, what would I have to complain about on my blog then?

Ray Lewis likes sea turtles, the color purple, and little dresses!

It's been a few weeks since I've posted so I'll be going on a binge today.

My advertisement for today is a VISA commercial with Ray Lewis in a press conference where a little girl asks some interesting questions....

This commercial defines contrast.  Here you have the scariest defensive player in the NFL answering questions and then this adorable little girl starts asking questions not usually heard at a press conference.  All Ray Lewis can do is answer and laugh.

VISA's ad department dominated this commercial and has had me thinking about it for days...

It has such emotional appeal while using such a big scary dude.  How they pulled that off is beyond me.

Stop getting sacked and stop doing these ADS!

Nothing is more embarrassing than when your hero or favorite athlete begins falling off the map in terms of impressiveness...

This just started happening for me as Aaron Rodgers started to become a sellout in my eyes.

Don't get me wrong...I'm a HUGE ARod fan and he is extremely socially responsible for teaming with Gruber to do this...but this just doesn't cut it for me!

Growing up, I don't remember Brett ever starring in ANY commercials---with the exception of the Wrangler commercials towards the end.

I don't know if Aaron is just trying to make a few bucks or if he honestly thinks it's a good idea to be on 12 different commercials airing every Sunday.  For me, I'd prefer if he stuck to throwing the ball!

By the way, GO PACK GO!

My new BF is Sobelmans! Oh wait...

Ever get on to Twitter and notice that you have a half-dozen Follower Requests?

Excited, you click the link only to find three or four companies trying to follow you.  It's quite the ego-booster when Sobelman's on Marquette's campus wants to follow you.  But there is a reason Sobelman's follows you and it's not because they're your new best friend.

According to Bill Stronge of Social Media Today, those companies or corporations are following you for one of two reasons.  Either that corporation is interested in what you're saying, or they expect you to follow them back--which would increase their popularity and their social media presence.

Companies hire individuals to sit on a tablet or computer all day and scan trends and Tweople who are talking about them and request to follow them hoping that in return they become interested in seeing the company on their Twitter feed.

It will be interesting in the near future to see what kind of statistics emerge on the effectiveness of these ads!
